The first play "The Place for the Romanies" was staged in the same year. This musical and dramatic fresco from the history and the present of the Romanies awoke a great interest in this country and even abroad. For the first time on the Slovak stages the truth of the Romany actor was told by his mouth, the truth of his life, the truth unknown and unwanted by the majority.

The fragments used in liberto were taken from literary works of Romany s authors: Dezider Banga (the poem "The People with a Face of the Sun"). Margita Reiznerová (The fairy tale Romany s Mirror), Anna Koptová - the poem You Will Live, and the fragments from journalistic study about origin and history of symbol of the circle - the wheel on the Romany´s flag written by Milena Hubschmannová.

THE BLIND BRAIDWOMAN

Not by chance the message of the good and love by fairy Kesaj from the staged fairy - tale "The Blind Braidwoman" inspires the theatre group and its external non-Romany colleagues to start the Foundation Good Romany Fairy Kesaj directly in the theatre itself. The artists, the foundation, the Romanies and the non-Romanies together look for the way of mutual understanding and show the way to the others...

The second premierre of the Romany´s fairy tale "The Blind Braidwoman" written by Milan Húževka and J.A. Gerlachovský took place on the 8-th of March 1993 in the first theatre season.

ORCHESTER DIVADLA ROMATHAN PREDSTAVUJE...

Rómske pesničky, ale aj svetoznáme operetné melódie Lehára, Kálmána, hudbu Chačaturjana a ďalších autorov upravil šéfdirigent divadla Karol Adam. Na svojej tretej premiére sa hudobníci, speváci, ale aj tanečníci pod vedením choreografa Karola Kroka predstavujú 30. apríla 1993 v košickom Dome umenia.

Tento program má úspech nielen na Slovensku, ale aj v Nemecku, Maďarsku, vo Francúzsku a Poľsku. Terajší šéfdirigent Dezider Miko pôvodný repertoár neutále tvorivo rozvíja.

Romany´s songs and also world known operetta melodies of Lehár, Kálman, the music of Chačaturjan and others were adapted by chief conductor Karol Adam. On the 30-th April 1993 musicians singers and dancers led by choreograph Karol Krok present their third premiere in House of Art of Košice.

The programme has succes not only in Slovakia, but also in Germany, Hungary, France and Poland. Actual chief conductor Dezider Miko is continualy developing the original repertoire.

We can see the chief conductor Dezider Miko as a prime violinist Deži with Miroslav Balog as a prime violinist Feri in the fairy tale The Big Prime - Violinist Baro.

AKO SA NARODILI HUSLE

Pohybová rozprávka pre najmenšie deti "AKO BOH STVORIL ROMA" je 4. premiérou divadla. S hercami a účinkujúcimi žiakmi z Košíc sa do nej zapájajú aj diváci. Premiéru venujú 2. 10. 1993 postihnutým deťom v Bratislave.

V tom istom roku v decembri dostávajú mukulášsky darček deti z detských domovov v podobe 5. premiéry divadla. Je to legenda chorvátskej spisovateľky Anny Ňemogovej - Kolárovej "AKO SA NARODILI HUSLE".

Problém lásky medzi Rómom a Nerómkou riešil sólista divadla Jaroslav Viola v scenári "RÓMSKA SLZA". V marci 1994 jej premiéru divadelníci venujú košickým dôchodcom.

Je to len niekoľko príkladov z množstva koncertov a hier, ktoré členovia Divadla ROMATHAN venovali postihnutým deťom, sociálne slabším občanom alebo dôchodcom. HOW THE VIOLIN WAS BORN

The movement fairy tale for the smallest children How God Has Created Romany" is the fourth premierre of the theatre. Even spectators join to the actors and pupils from Košice acting in this fairy tale. On the 2-nd of October 1993 this premiere is dedicated to handicapped children in Bratislava.

In December that year children from the children´s homes receive as a St. Nicolas present the fifth premiere of the theatre "How the Violin Was Born". It´s a legend written by Croatian writer Anna Ňemogová - Kolárová.

Love problem between Romany man and non - Romany woman has been solved by soloist Jaroslav Viola in the scenario "Romany´s Tear". Its premiere is dedicated to the retired people in Košice in March 1994.

These are only few examples of concerts and plays which members of the theatre Romathan have dedicated to handicapped children, retired and socially weaker people.

VEĽKÝ PRIMÁŠ BARO

Rómska rozprávka v dvoch dejstvách pre staršie deti a mládež. "Zlo samé neexistuje. Oživujú ho ľudia. Našťastie, srdce človeka sa rodí čisté a dobré a k dobrote sa vráti". (Spisovateľka Elena Lacková, ktorej kniha rozprávok vyšla na Slovensku po prvýkrát v rómskom jazyku).

Svojou dramatickosťou a tajomnými - magickými prvkami zaujala dramaturgička divadla Danielu Hivešovú - Šilanovú najmä rozprávka o veľkom primášovi Barovi. Po jej úprave a dramatizácii ju divadlo uviedlo ako 9. premiéru 2. decembra 1994 v Košiciach. THE BIG PRIME - VIOLINIST BARO

Romany´s fairy tale in two acts i for older children and youth. "Evil does not exist it self. Peoples only make it alive. Fortunately, man´s heart is clean and good in the moment of birth and it will return to goodness". (Elena Lacková, the writer, her book of fairy tales have in Romany language in Slovakia).

Dramatist Daniela Hivešová - Šilanová has been found the tale about big prime - violinist Baro interesting because of its dramatick and mysterious - the magical elements. After its adaptation the theatre staged it as the 9-th premiere on 2-nd of December 1994 in Košice.

CIGÁNI IDÚ DO NEBA

ROMATHAN buduje na charaktere systetického polyfónneho divadla a práve takáto orientácia mu umožňuje predstavovať rómske umenie v podobe tradičnej ľudovej hudby, peisní, tancov, scénok zo života, ale aj v podobe náročnejších divadelných žánrov, ako napr. adaptácia svetového muzikálu "Cigáni idú do neba", ktorý ROMATHAN inscenoval ako svoju 10. premiéru.

THE GYPSIES GO TO HEAVEN

The ROMATHAN theatre builds on the character of the synthetic polyphonic hteatre and exactly such an orientation enables to present the Romany art in the form of traditional folk musik, songs, dances, scenes from the everyday life, but also in the shape of more challenging dramatic genres as for example the adaptation of the word-wide musical "The Gypsies Go To Heaven" as its 10-th premiere.

DIVADELNÍCI

venujú veľkú pozornosť výchove budúcich umelcov. Spolupracujú s detským rómskym súborom Hviezdička zo základnej školy v Košiciach, so žiakmi Ľudovej školy umenia a z košického Konzervatória. V roku 1994 vzniká pri divadle detský súbor RAMATHANORO, s ním rozprávka Čierne topánky - Kale kamašli, ktorej scenár a réžiu vytvorila členka divadla ROMATHAN Magda Kokyová.

Pod odborným vedením dramaturgičky Daniely Hivešovej - Šilanovej vznikol scenár rozprávky ZVONIACE PODKOVY, ktorý napísali žiaci Konzervatória Jozef a Ondrej Ferkovci. Veľmi úspešnú 11. premiéru koncom roka 1995 realizovali spolužiaci autorov pod vedením Jána Šilana.

Prvý polrok 1996 je bohatý na premiéry rôznych žánrov. Už 14. 1. je 12 premiéra scénickej motáže humoru a rómskych prísloví "Dobre je, keď Róm sa smeje". "Tradičným ľudovým humorom, poviedkami, ľahkou muzikou, piesňou, tancom, chceme osloviť diváka v zmiešaných obciach a mestečkách. Pretože každý človek má v sebe zakorenený prirodzený zmysel pre spravodlivosť, túžbu po rovnocennosti medzi ľuďmi. (Režisér: Ján Šilan). Scénickú montáž zostavila a zdramatizovala Daniela Hivešová - Šilanová.

Neodmysliteľnou súčasťou Divadla ROMATHAN sa stane orchester modernej hudby BIG-BAND, ktorý sa prvýkrát predstaví vo februári 1996.

THEATRICAL COLLECTIVE

pays a big attention bringing future artiste up. They cooperate with children Romany ensemble The Little Star form a basic School of Art and Conservatoire in Košice. In 1994 the children ensemble ROMATHANORO was created beside the theatre. Its first fairy tale "Black Shoes" was written and directed by Magda Kokyová, the member of Theatre ROMATHAN.

Jozef and Ondrej Ferko, the students of Conzervatoire with an expert asssistence of Daniela Hivešová - Šilanová have written a scenario for a fairy tale "The Tinkling Hoseshoes". A very succesful lith premiere was staged by autor´s classmates on the end of 1995. Director: Ján Šilan

The first half of the year 1996 is rich in premieres of different genres. The 12-th premiere of scenic assembly of humor and Romany proverbs "It is Good When Romany Smiles" was already on the 14-th January. "We want to adress audience in mixed villages and towns by traditional folk humor, tales, light music, songs and dances, because all mankind has rooted natural sense for righteousness, longing about equality between people". Inseparable part of the theatre ROMATHAN will become an orchestra of modern music named BIG-BAND which will have its first stage in February 1996. KRVAVÁ SVADBA

"Poznanie sa rodí v bolesti. V bolestiach sa pretvárame a s údivom objavujeme biele miesta na mapách svojho vnútra. Masky sprevádzajú ples nášho života. Je ťažko povedať pravdu. Ešte ťažšie pravdivo konať. Nie je nič smutnejšie ako krvavá svadba".

Slová režiséra Vlada Bálinta vystihujú objavnú realizáciu hry svetového španielského autora Frederica García Lorcu "Krvavá svadba". Dôkazom je aj jeho dramaturgická príprava a úprava textov.

BLOOD WEDDING

"Knowledge takes a birth in pain. We transform ourselves in pain and find out with a surprise the white places on the maps of us iside. The masks accompany a ball of us life. It is difficult to tell the truth. Even more difficult to act truthfully. Nothing is sadder than the blood wedding".

The words of Vlado Balinta, the director, truthfully describe discovery realisation of the play "BLOOD WEDDING" written by world known Spanish autor Frederic Garcia. His dramatic preparation and adaptation prooves it.
