East Slovakian Gallery

In 1951 the East Slovakian Gallery was the first regional gallery to be established in Slovakia, being called "Country Gallery" at that time (from 1960 to 1991 it worked as the East Slovakian Gallery and in 1992 - 1996 as Julius Jakoby Gallery). The main focus of its collection programme is on the documentation of art life of the East Slovakian Region. It keeps a record of more than 6 600 works of art at present. Besides the representative collection of art of the 19th and 20th centuries in East Slovakian Region, the collection found includes a survey of art in Slovakia in the 20th century. The number of the exhibitions organized by the Gallery in its own exhibition rooms and other institutions´rooms and abroad as well exceeds 40 every year.
